President & PM pay tribute at the first hour of Ekushey

DHAKA, Feb 21, 2026 (TNB) – At the first hour of Ekushey, the President and Prime Minister paid homage to the language martyrs.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman have paid tribute at Central Shaheed Minar at the beginning of the day.
However, the President first placed a wreath at the Shaheed Minar.
Preserving Mother Language: UNESCO takes new program
Then the PM laid wreaths three times, accompanied by members of the Cabinet and his family.
After paying floral tribute to the language martyrs, PM stood in silent respect for some time. He also joined in prayers seeking eternal peace for the souls of the martyrs.
Subsequently, members of the new Cabinet paid homage, with BNP Chairman and PM. Meanwhile, on behalf of the opposition, Dr. Shafiqul Rahman paid tribute, accompanied by leaders of the 11-party alliance.
Later, the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force laid wreaths.
Foreign diplomats stationed in Dhaka also paid homage, along with university teachers, political party representatives, and professional organizations.
