IRGC vows ‘most ferocious offensive operation in history’ against US bases, Israel

TEHRAN, March 1, 2026 (Reuters) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Sunday it would launch the “most ferocious” operation in history against Israel and US bases.
“The most ferocious offensive operation in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s armed forces will begin any moment now,” the Guards posted on Telegram.
This comes after state media confirmed Sunday that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed on Saturday after the United States and Israel launched the most ambitious attack on Iranian targets in decades.

Also on Sunday, Iran’s judiciary confirmed that the US and Israeli strikes killed the chief of the IRGC and another top security advisor.
The Guards’ commander, General Mohammad Pakpour, and Ali Shamkhani, the head of the national defense council, were “martyred” in Saturday’s attacks, the Iranian judiciary’s Mizan online news portal reported.
