Iran, Jan 30, 2026 (Reuters) – A batch of 1,000 drones was received by the various branches of the Iranian army, semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Thursday, amid growing tensions, with the US President Donald Trump warning of an attack if Tehran refuses a nuclear deal.
“In accordance with the threats ahead, the army maintains and enhances its strategic advantages for rapid combat and imposing a crushing response against any aggressor,” the army’s Commander-in-Chief Amir Hatami said.

The report said that the new additions were expected to boost the operational capabilities of the army’s four branches.
It added that the drones were developed by army specialists in cooperation with the defense ministry, “based on emerging threats and the lessons learned from the 12-day war imposed in June 2025.”
“The UAVs have been designed in destructive, offensive, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare categories, with the capability to target specific fixed and mobile objectives across land, sea, and air domains.”
Since Iran launched a crackdown on protests accompanied by internet blackout, US President Donald Trump has given mixed signals on a possible intervention. The situation in regime remains tense.
Washington joined Israel’s 12-day war in June aimed at degrading Iranian nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
