US business delegation meets Prime Minister

Dhaka, Aug 13, 2026 (TNB) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has sat in a meeting with a 50-member delegation from the US-Bangladesh Business Council on Thursday to discuss ways to increase trade and investment between Bangladesh and the United States.

The meeting began at around 9.30am at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Secretariat, according to sources.

The high-level US delegation is being led by Oliver Simpson, vice-president and chief commercial officer of Excelerate Energy, and Ambassador (retd) Atul Keshap, president of the US-Bangladesh Business Council and senior vice-president for South Asia at the US Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting is also discussing a range of issues of mutual interest, including opportunities for greater bilateral trade and investment.

Following the meeting, representatives of the US-Bangladesh Business Council and a spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office are expected to brief journalists jointly.

They are expected to provide details of the discussions and outline plans for strengthening economic engagement between Bangladesh and the United States.
